St Patrick - Year 2
Class Teacher - Mr Abbott
Teaching Assistant - Mrs Shore
Information for parents
We typically have PE on Mondays and Tuesdays, starting our week in an energising and exciting way.
Throughout the week, the class is taught by Mr. Abbott, with the exception of Wednesday afternoons when Mrs. Holt steps in to deliver her fantastic lessons!
In St. Patrick Class, we work hard to support one another and be the best we can be as we take this final step in our Key Stage 1 journey. Together, we bridge the gap between the more play-based learning of KS1 and prepare ourselves for the increased independence and structure of KS2. Over the course of the year, we gradually move from smaller, supported tasks to larger, more independent pieces of work, and shift from whole-class input on the carpet to more focused learning at our tables. We aim to make our lessons as fun and interactive as possible, making the most of our outdoor spaces and the fantastic resources available to us.
How can parents help their children at home?
Parents can support their children in becoming the best version of themselves by taking an active interest in their learning. Ask them about their school day, encourage them to come up with questions for their teachers, and inspire them to create home projects to share with the class. Read together, practise maths skills, and even let them teach you what they’ve learned — it’s a great way to reinforce their understanding.
Helping your child develop a positive approach to learning also means supporting good habits like planning, organisation, and punctuality. And finally, stay connected with us. Take the opportunity at the school gate to ask how your child is doing, check if there are any small ways you can support learning at home, or simply have a friendly chat about their interests and hobbies. Working together makes a big difference.
We are very proud of our Class Saint, Saint Patrick
Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and Nigeria. He was born in a village in Roman Britain. When he was 16 years old he was captured and sold into slavery. He also married couples when the king prohibited it.
Saint Patrick came from a Christian family. He was the son of Calpornius, who was a deacon. He brought Christianity to Ireland. He converted many pagans to Christianity. He also challenged many of their leaders and druids and they worked together to convert many other pagans.
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year on March 17th in his honour. We are very excited to celebrate this day, and have already started making preparations. We invite you to join us for Mass on this day, to celebrate our Class Saint, Saint Patrick.
